Preventive health check in Amsterdam: stay healthy, not only get better
A preventive health check at Mesology Amsterdam is a 90-minute integrative check-up for people who feel reasonably well and want to stay that way. Adriana Guarin, a certified mesologist, looks for early signs of imbalance in your digestion, hormones, energy, stress, sleep and nutrition, before they turn into complaints. You leave with a personal prevention plan. No referral needed, in English, Spanish or Dutch.
Most people only see a health practitioner once something is wrong. Yet many chronic complaints, such as fatigue, gut problems, hormonal imbalance or burnout, build up slowly over years. Small signals like poor sleep, bloating, low energy or frequent colds are often the first signs that your body is under strain. A preventive health check helps you notice these signals early and act on them.
A preventive health check at Mesology Amsterdam does not replace medical screening by your GP or national screening programmes. It complements them, with a broader look at how your whole body functions.
Why choose a preventive health check?
Prevention is about more than the absence of disease. It is about energy, resilience and feeling well, now and in ten years’ time. A regular medical check looks for disease; a preventive health check at Mesology Amsterdam looks at how well your body functions and where it is quietly under strain.
That makes it a valuable addition for anyone who wants to invest in their health before problems start.
What the preventive health check looks at
Your body is one connected system. These are the six areas I check during a preventive health check.
- Your health history
Your medical and family history, medication and recent test results from your GP, so we see the full picture and spot risk factors early.
- Energy and constitution
Pulse and tongue observation show your current reserves: how well you recover, and where your constitution needs extra care to stay strong in the years ahead.
- Stress and sleep
Long-term stress and poor sleep are among the biggest risks for future health problems. We look at your stress load, recovery and sleep rhythm.
- Digestion and gut health
Your gut affects your immune system, hormones and mood. Early signs such as bloating or irregular bowels say a lot about your health. Read more about gut health.
- Nutrition and micronutrients
We check whether your diet gives you enough vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, and where shortages may be building up.
- Hormones and organ function
An EPD measurement at acupuncture points gives a functional picture of organs and hormonal systems, often before complaints appear.

How the preventive health check works
Your preventive health check in three steps (90 minutes, €180)
Conversation: your health history, lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, stress and personal health goals.
Assessment: a check of your energy and reserves through pulse and tongue observation, and an EPD measurement that shows early strain in organs and hormonal systems.
Personal prevention plan: practical advice on nutrition, lifestyle and breathing and, where useful, natural supplements, written down so you can start right away.
For ongoing prevention, a 60-minute follow-up consultation every 3 months is recommended, ideally with each change of season, to see how your body has changed and adjust the plan.
Who is a preventive health check for?
A preventive health check is for anyone who wants to stay healthy and catch early signs of imbalance. It is especially useful if you:
feel “not ill, but not really well”: tired, stressed or less resilient than you would like
have a busy or demanding life, with long working days, travel or young children
have a family history of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or thyroid problems
are entering a new life phase, such as planning a pregnancy, perimenopause or menopause
are an expat adjusting to a new climate, diet and pace of life (read about expat health care)
want to get more out of your health: better energy, sleep and resilience

A qualified practitioner for your prevention
A preventive health check is only as good as the person who does it. Adriana Guarin is a registered mesologist, a protected title in the Netherlands that requires the four-year programme of the Academy for Mesology and ongoing continuing education. Her training combines regular medical knowledge with complementary methods, so she knows when a signal needs a doctor and when lifestyle can make the difference.
She is a member of the NVVM, VBAG and RBCZ, which many supplementary insurers require for reimbursement. Meet Adriana.
Insurance for a preventive health check
The prices are shown in the cards above: €180 for the first preventive health check and €150 for each follow-up check, recommended every 3 months. Basic health insurance does not cover prevention by a mesologist, but many supplementary policies partly reimburse it, often under alternative or complementary care. Ask your insurer before booking, or see the overview on the prices and insurance page.
