Gut health support in Amsterdam: calm your digestion from the root

Gut health support at Mesology Amsterdam is integrative care for persistent digestive complaints such as bloating, abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhoea, reflux and reactions to food. Adriana Guarin looks for the cause: the gut flora, digestion, food intolerances, stress and nutrition, and makes a personal plan that works alongside your GP. No referral needed, in English, Spanish or Dutch.

Your gut does much more than digest food. It is home to a large part of your immune system, produces messengers that affect mood and energy, and influences your hormones. That is why gut problems often go together with fatigue, skin complaints or low mood, and why good gut health matters for your whole body.

Always see your GP first for alarm signs such as blood in your stool, unintended weight loss, persistent vomiting or difficulty swallowing. Mesology works alongside regular care.

Gut Health Support Mesology Amsterdam

Why choose gut health support at Mesology Amsterdam?

Many people live with bloating, an unsettled stomach or irregular bowels for years. Tests often come back normal, and the advice stays general: eat more fibre, try to relax.

At Mesology Amsterdam we take time to find what drives your complaints, and build a plan that calms your digestion step by step.

What gut health support looks at

Your gut is connected to the rest of your body. These are the six areas I look at during gut health support.

When complaints started, what makes them better or worse, medication, antibiotics and earlier tests from your GP.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the spleen and stomach drive digestion. Pulse and tongue observation show whether your digestive energy is weak, overloaded or blocked.

Stress directly affects digestion, gut movement and sensitivity. Calming the nervous system is part of the plan.

The balance of gut bacteria, stomach acid and digestive enzymes, and how well you digest and absorb food.

Lactose, fructose, histamine and other food intolerances that may play a role in your complaints.

A realistic eating pattern, regular meals, movement and sleep that support a calm and healthy gut.

How gut health support works

Gut health support in three steps

  1. Intake (90 minutes): your complaints, history, diet, stress, sleep and earlier test results.

  2. Assessment: tongue and pulse observation, which say a lot about digestion, and an EPD measurement.

  3. Personal gut plan: step-by-step nutrition advice, stress regulation and, where useful, targeted supplements or probiotics.

Most clients notice a clear difference within a few weeks to a few months, with follow-up consultations every four to six weeks.

Experience with digestive complaints

Digestive complaints are among the most common reasons people come to Adriana Guarin. Her four-year training at the Academy for Mesology covers the anatomy and physiology of the digestive system, orthomolecular nutrition and herbal medicine, so she can combine a medical view of your gut with practical nutrition.

She knows the alarm signs that need your GP first, and is a member of the NVVM, VBAG and RBCZ. More about Adriana.

Gut health support and your insurance

Gut health support starts with a 90-minute intake (€180), followed by 60-minute follow-ups (€150), as shown above. Most people need three to four consultations over two to four months. Supplementary insurance often partly reimburses this; basic insurance does not. Prices and insurance.

questions about gut health support

Questions ~

It is integrative care for persistent digestive complaints. Adriana looks for the cause, such as gut flora, food intolerances, stress or nutrition, and makes a personal plan alongside your GP.

Common causes are food intolerances such as lactose or fructose, an imbalance in the gut flora, eating fast or irregularly, constipation and stress. Often several factors play a role together.

Yes. The gut and brain are closely connected. Stress can change gut movement, sensitivity and the gut flora, which is why stress regulation is part of gut health support.

Yes, if you have alarm signs such as blood in your stool, unintended weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, or new complaints after the age of 50. These need medical assessment first.

Many people notice a difference within a few weeks. Restoring the gut flora and finding your personal triggers usually takes two to four months.

Basic insurance does not cover it. Many supplementary policies partly reimburse consultations with a registered mesologist, so check your policy before booking. You do not need a referral from your GP.
